Hi, I’m Doireann Kealey
lovely to meet you!
Seeing women just like you, transforming their lives, realising the power of nutrition, and taking control of their own health, brings me so much joy, it is why I do what I do.
Why I want to help you…
I love to work with busy mothers, just like myself, who may be suffering with digestive issues, fatigue, stress, poor immune function, or hormonal imbalances such as hypothyroidism or diabetes.
I specialise in helping you get to the root cause of your symptoms and support you with highly personalised nutrition and lifestyle advice, which leaves you feeling energised and empowered with a new understanding of your own health and body.
I have worked as a pharmacist for almost 20 years and am very grateful to have gained invaluable experience dealing with people and their health conditions.
However, I always felt like something was missing and was just using medicine as a band aid. I knew that if I really wanted to help people, I had to get to the root cause of their symptoms, but just didn't have the time to do that within the pharmacy. It was only through my own health journey that I discovered the power of nutrition and how changing your mindset towards diet and lifestyle could really help improve your health. I want to support other women who are suffering with their health and feeling a bit lost, and who need the guidance that I had on my own health journey.
Where it all began…
After moving home to Ireland in 2018 from Edinburgh, I decided to embark on a new career in nutrition and lifestyle medicine. In all honesty, I wasn't 100% sure if it was the right path but I was willing to take a chance, and as soon as I started studying nutrition I knew I had made the right decision.
I had always suffered with digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, abdominal pain and could never figure out why or what was causing it.
It really disrupted my life and would always come on at the worst times, when I was going out or had a social event, it was very frustrating and would get me down. I got the general IBS label from the GP and was sent on my way with very little nutrition advice.
At the beginning of my nutrition studies, I discovered I had a condition called Hashimotos thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition that causes the thyroid to become underactive.
It was only through the guidance of a nutritional therapist that I discovered I had an autoimmune condition and the digestive issues were caused by a condition called SIBO, which is very often mistaken for IBS.
I am very grateful to now be in a position to help other women suffering with similar health conditions and use my knowledge and experience to guide them to better health. I feel that the nutrition and lifestyle changes that I made prevented me from having more serious complications and allowed me to take control and have power over my own wellbeing and health journey. This is what I want to do for you too.
Anyone that knows me, knows I love helping others and passing on all my new found knowledge. It has given me a sense of purpose which is true to my values of:
Health | Education | Empowerment | Compassion
Life as a busy working mum…
I understand the life of a busy working mum and all the pressures that come with it.
I also know that not looking after yourself and listening to your body can lead to more serious health concerns. I want to support stressed out mums, take control of their health and put themselves first, a very hard thing for us mums to do.
The last 5 years have been the busiest years of my life. I studied nutritional therapy for 4 years whilst continuing to work as a pharmacist, I got married, had 2 children, with another on the way, and spent 2 years training to be a biomagnetic therapist.
Although it has kept me very busy, it has been the most rewarding time of my life and has given me a new sense of purpose. Being a mum, working part time as a pharmacist and trying to run my own business definitely has its challenges. There are times when I get overwhelmed, stressed and exhausted from it all. However, this journey has taught me to be more patient and enjoy the small things in life that we are so lucky to experience.
The stress will always be there, it is how we deal with it that matters.
The importance of food and home cooking
Food and home cooking is a core value of mine, it is a skill that I want to pass on to my children, so they value the importance of nourishing themselves with real food, and the hard work that goes into making food.
In the instant gratification world that we live in today, I believe that this is such an important value and skill for kids to learn. My daughter always says to me “thank you for making all the food that I love” and it always makes me feel like the effort is worth it. The next day she could say “I don’t like that food” that she’s eaten hundreds of times before, but that’s kids and they are unpredictable. I have learned not to let her way of figuring things out stress me out.
I am all for cutting corners and I don’t intend on making anyone a slave in the kitchen, life is too busy for that. Being organised and prepared can make all the difference to the stress of making food. What I want for you is to fall in love with food and realise the impact good wholesome food can have on your life.
Applied Biomagnetic Therapy
Over the past few years, I came across a complementary therapy called Applied Biomagnetic therapy, and it just fascinated me. I knew I wanted to practise energetic healing, and as soon as I learned more about Biomagnetism, I knew it would complement nutritional therapy perfectly. I have had great healing experiences myself with it and am thrilled to be able to offer this wonderful healing therapy to my clients.
